8 in the SWAC Last week, THE Logical One went 4-2 in
predictions. I picked the
EXACT score for the JSU-Southern game!!
UAPB is still the most unpredictable team in the SWAC as proven
with by an upset win over Grambling. . JSU and AAMU are still in the
driver’s seat in the EAST but the GSU and SU losses put Texas Southern
back into what is now a 4-team race!! Prairie
View A&M and Alabama State are both OPEN this week.
Jackson State vs. Grambling @
Eddie Robinson Stadium in Grambling, LA (3PM): JSU is coming off of a
very emotional win against Southern University.
Grambling is coming off of a surprising and disappointing loss to
Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Let’s
just look at the logical aspects of this match-up.
Both teams can put up points in different ways.
Grambling has a more prolific offense, especially aerial attack.
Jackson State has less impressive numbers but they find a way to
score nearly 30 points per game mainly because of the difference maker in
the match-up: DEFENSE. Jackson
State is a running team with an elusive QB and WRs waiting to catch a
defense off guard. Grambling
has a poor rushing defense which is not good when facing a team that does
not mind pounding the ball. Prediction: Jackson State 31; Grambling
27 Alabama A&M vs. Arkansas Pine
Bluff @ Golden Lion Stadium, Pine Bluff, AR (2:30 PM):
No matter how good they become, AAMU is still good for being the
traditional Homecoming beyotch in the SWAC. For a team returning a slew of starters from a 9-3 team, they
have been far less than impressive than predicted.
UAPB is a dangerous team. You never know which team will show up.
This being their homecoming makes it even harder to determine how
they will perform. I am
thinking that these guys are going to play inspired ball. This game should
be decided by which team does best on the ground since their pass defenses
are both poor. Statistically,
that should be AAMU; however, AAMU is not going to come through before a
hostile Homecoming crowd. Prediction: AAMU 21; UAPB 24 Alcorn State vs. Southern @ Jack
Spinks Stadium in Alcorn State, MS (2 PM):
Jack
Spinks Stadium is about to rock.
The Jaguars will once again invade Mississippi to take on the
Braves of Alcorn State. Before an expected capacity crowd, I look for Alcorn to be
humbled. They are too injury
plagued and they have really not shown much against quality competition.
They will have to do better than beat Texas Southern, Prairie View
and Morehouse to impress TP!! It is logical to predict a win for not only the Jaguars
but also the Jukebox. Prediction: Alcorn 14; Southern 28 Texas
Southern vs. Mississippi Valley State @ Houston TX (2 PM):
Mississippi Valley
State is still a good football team despite loses to the Big Three in the
SWAC and North Dakota State. Logically, I can’t see them losing any more
games this year. Texas
Southern could not handle Alcorn. They
won’t be able to handle MS Valley either. Prediction:
MS Valley 35; Texas Southern 21
