Clark Atlanta Panthers (0-4, 2-4) vs Albany St. Golden Rams (4-0, 4-2), Homecoming, 2 p.m., Albany Municipal Stadium, Albany, GA
The Panthers celebrated homecoming in a grand way with a 43-0 rout of George Mason. CAU racked up 420 yards of offense in this game for their largest point production of the season. QB Corey Jones threw for 3 TDs and rushed for 3 more. The Panther defense held GMU to only 61 yards of total offense. Albany's offense continued to sputter. The defense was the difference in a 14-0 victory over Miles, allowing only 128 yards of total offense. The GA Goats catapulted to 1st place in the SIAC with the victory. It's homecoming in SW Georgia, so expect the Rams to celebrate a victory all weekend. ASU over CAU
Kentucky St. Thorobreds (3-1, 4-2) vs Benedict Tigers (1-3, 2-4), 2 p.m., Charlie Johnson Stadium, Columbia, SC
KSU celebrated homecoming with a 31-10 stomping of Lane. The Ponies were again led by RB Roni Robinson, who rushed for 155 yards and scored 3 TDs. KSU had a balanced offensive attack (163 rushing/194 passing) but really needs to do something about turnovers and penalties (15 for 118 yds.). Benedict is coming off a bye week and should be well rested. The Tigers played a woeful game against Lenoir-Rhyne in a 16-0 loss. The offense managed only 32 rushing yards and 107 passing yards. A couple of probable TD passes were dropped. The Ponies are a young team but will prance into this game after derailing Lane. Look for them to gallop back to the KY capital with the win. KSU over BC.
Morehouse Maroon Tigers (1-4, 2-5) vs Savannah St. Tigers (0-5), 14th CSRA Classic, 2 p.m., Lucy C. Laney Stadium, Augusta, GA
In this clash of the Georgia Tigers, both will be crawling into this game after losses this weekend. The Maroon Tigers lost to the Golden Cousins 55-29. The 'House men have a porous defense which allowed Tuskegee 387 yards of total offense (220 rushing). QB Carlos King (yes, in previous weeks he has been a receiver so you're not confused) accounted for 207 of Morehouse's 253 yards of offense. Not good. The Orange Tigers were bum-rushed by Charleston Southern 38-13. The Marshkats gave up 458 yards of total offense. QB Garrett Williams seems to be improving every week. The one bright spot for the Orange Tigers was a 93-yd. kickoff return for a TD by Anthony Huntley. This quote from the Savannah Morning News will unfortunately tell you all you need to know about the disarray in the SSU athletics dept. "It is
believed to be among the longest kickoff returns in school history, but SSU officials could not verify it because SSU failed to keep thorough records before 2005. SSU did not produce its first football media guide until 2004." (Ordinarily I would be incredulous but if you've been following this saga, you know nothing it out of the realm of possibility). The Maroon Tigers should come away with the win, but this one is a toss up. Morehouse over SSU
Stillman Tigers (1-4, 2-4) vs Alabama A&M Bulldogs (4-1), Homecoming, 3 p.m., Lewis Crews Stadium, Normal, AL
Stillman got its first conference win with a 34-11 thrashing of Ft. Valley. QB Charles McCollum had a good day (13-21, 206 yds) spreading the ball around to several different receivers. The Bama Tigers also cut down on their turnovers, committing only one this week. The offense finally had a balanced attack (44-244 yds rushing), running 66 plays and holding the ball almost 36 minutes. Special teams also played a role with a 90 yd punt return by Denatay Heard. The SWAC Bulldogs beat Southern 28-21 to remain in the SWAC East hunt. It's homecoming on the Hill so the Bama Tiggers will find the Hounds' bite worse than their bark for a change. AAMU over Stillman
Miles Golden Bears (3-1, 4-2) vs Lane Dragons (3-1, 6-1), 6 p.m., Rothrock Stadium, Jackson, TN
The Bama Bears continue to have offensive woes, managing only 128 yards of total offense in a 14-0 loss to Albany. In what turned out to be a defensive struggle, Miles allowed two 2nd quarter TDS, which the Albany defense fiercely protected. The Lizards strutted into Frankfort, only to slither out with a 31-10 defeat. Lane came back from 10-0 to take a 14-10 lead, only to trail 17-14 at the half. The Ponies busted out of the stalls and score 14 unanswered points to secure the victory. The Lizards' early offensive prowess seems to have disappeared the past 3 weeks. Look for a low score game in what SIAC
aficionados fondly refer to as the C.M.E. Bowl (see below). Lane over Miles

Last call: You will recall I mentioned the pathetic officiating in the SIAC. Here is a pic of the 2-pt conversion play that I mentioned occurred during the Stillman-Miles game. As you can see, the player is CLEARLY laying on the ground but tossed the ball, which was caught in the endzone, and Miles was given the 2 points. Pathetic.
