Recap- Inter-conference struggles continue as the Elite forces of the beloved CIAA can't notch wins against primarily SAC competition. It has to make you wonder- will Carson-Newman be in the CIAA championship game? The Eagles clobbered Shaw 41-7 and play 2 more CIAA opponents (St. Aug this week, Va. State next week), and should go 3-0 in their “CIAA play”. Catawba is in the same boat, vaporizing Livingstone in the “Salisbury Bowl”, and playing Va. State this weekend. Not to mention the defensive struggle of a game featuring Presbyterian and Fayetteville State (7-6 Presb). Maybe things will get better this weekend. But it aren’t looking too good (except for #15 ranked N.C. Central and Bowie State). You sorta get the feeling that SAC schools are nothing but big bullies from middle school.

Game of the week- Fayetteville State @ Elizabeth City State in the “Down East Classic” Doesn’t it seem like every game that isn’t a conference game gets the designation “classic”? Is this really a neutral field for both teams? Oh sorry, general rambling.. Fayetteville State played tough last week, and even though I’m starting to think the Vikings are going to turn the corner this year, it wont be against the top teams from the CIAA west, that’s for sure. Fayetteville played Presbyterian tough, and against lower competition, they should dominate. Fay State by 10

Cerebral game of the week- A MEAC jeopardy show might go like this- What college has their biggest game in September and features them against a Division II team? Name that school hosting, and the school they will be hosting. (insert reader name here): What is Morgan State and Bowie State? That’s correct. Tell (insert reader name here) what they have won. You have won the starting job as Bowie State’s running back. You will have the opportunity to juke, dive and simply out-power a porous defense like the Burger King man or the Pepsi machine (autograph sold separately). With you in the game, Bowie has a 7 point advantage to win the game. (With the running backs they do have, BSU by 21)

In the SAC subsidiary games of the week #1, Carson-Newman looks to go to St. Aug and continue to claim new territory and give the Falcons first taste of Humble Eagle pie. The year of the quarterback becomes the year of the option offense. CNC by 30

In the SAC subsidiary games of the week #2, Va. State travels to Salisbury to take on Catawba. I’s 99.9% sure they wish they were going to stop at Livingstone instead. Catawba continues their CIAA non-conference romp by going 2-0 with a 21 point advantage.

In the SAC subsidiary games of the week #3, Tusculum is visiting St. Pauls. The Pioneers will discover two things: A new land they call Lawrenceville (in the middle of nowhere) and Pimping is in fact easy, as they take a win by force. (TC by 20)

The other Hot game in Salisbury is Va Union @ Livingstone. Hot you say? Va. Union is warming up to the idea of getting a win, while Livingstone’s fans are probably getting hot headed at facing the fact they this could be a winless season. Va Union by 7

In the Final Game of the week, Shaw decides to go to Duval County and take on Ed. Waters in Jacksonville. Nothing much to say here except that Shaw QB J. Kimbrough should have a field day padding his stats against a team that was humiliated by Prairie View in a shutout. Ed. Waters will score, but I don’t see it being enough to win or make the game competitive. Shaw by 21.
