Week 3

Recap: From what has been seen so far, the number one story is those scrappy Golden Bulls of JCSU. They were down for much of the game against Glenville State last Saturday, only to find a will to win, and they have a win streak going. Who woulda thunk it? My apologies go out to them, because I couldn’t believe it myself. Both heavyweights NCCU and Bowie continue their CIAA dominance and
can building up what should be a showdown when they play in a few weeks. St. Aug disappointed me with Lane pulling out the win (Lane is the SIAC’s version of JCSU, they didn’t win a game either and are on cloud nine with a 2-0 record.), Fayetteville and ECSU were impressive with their wins and a cloudy forecast was spotted for the future games played between Norfolk State and Virginia State, as NSU recorded a win 29-14.
Game of the Week: Bowie State @ JC Smith
It’s the only interesting game out there! No one at this point can predict how the Golden Bulls will play, and I think at this point everyone is looking for a return to earth calling for JC. This game will be an upset for the Golden Bulls, although I don’t see it happening. Then again, I didn’t see them winning the first 2 games either. Bowie is scary to watch. They have been on a rampage, shutting out West Virginia State, 38-0. JCSU played Bowie tough last year, but mark down a win for Bowie and im sure you wont be disappointed this time (unless you are a bull)…BSU by 10
St. Aug @ Virginia State
I’m not picking the falcons anymore. You guys disappointed me against Lane (LANE! Think about it) and VSU will not be happy about losing to NSU. VSU by 20
Out of Conference play
This is a very important week for the CIAA, as the majority of the teams are playing out of the conference, with the majority of the match-ups against the South Atlantic Conference. However, don’t look for a lot of positives (in the win column) unless you are delusional or someone sprouted some miracle talent in practice. Yes, I wish it wasn’t like that either, but reality is reality.
Lenoir-Rhyne @ NCCU
In the return trip from last years game, NCCU will have to tame another set of bears. This game is a formality for the Eagles, as it is treated as a conference game, since WSSU left the conference and left holes in everybody’s schedule. As a result, NCCU has more to lose in this game than L-R does. The Bears struggled against Livingstone, and anyone who struggles with Livingstone doesn’t stand a chance. I hope the Eagles makes this game U-G-L-Y, you aint got no alibi very early. Eagles by 30+
Presbyterian @ Fayetteville State
In the Second Series of return games for the SAC, the Blue Hose will travel to play the broncos. PC destroyed FSU last year, and should have beaten Charleston-Southern (of i-aa fame) last week. Anyone who thinks FSU will win must be on PCP, as the Blue Hose will treat FSU like old panty hose. The Hose by 21
Shaw @ Carson-Newman
What is it with the Bear-Eagle match-ups? You would think Shaw had enough of fowl play for one year, but evidently not. C-N runs a nasty veer offense with a lot of option plays, and Shaw will do good to leave Jeff City, TN by losing by less 2 touchdowns. I hope they can air out the ball and keep it respectable, but it won’t be pretty. CN by 17
Catawba @ Livingstone
Catawba showed some intangibles when it pulled out a win from under by beloved Rams in the Fourth quarter. Livingstone showed they were tangled up in ECSU’s web and didn’t even sniff the endzone. A team from Salisbury will win this game, but I wont be anyone who cant score against Vikings. This, and I mean THIS game will be a disappointment if Catawba can’t score 40 points. This match-up reminds me of Brand Nubian’s “Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down”, but nobody wants to get beat to a soundtrack. Salisbury’s playoff team by 45
Charleston @ ECSU
Eliz City should be able to hit cruise control in this game if they play like last week. ECSU by 10
St. Paul’s @ George Mason
Mason could their basketball team out there and score more points than these
tigers. Mason by 7
