Predictions by Tigerpride: THE Logical One

Last week THE Logical One was nothing short of dreadful with his picks. Grambling fell to an upset by Alabama State while Southern came out on top of Texas Southern. JSU dampened its SCG hopes by losing to AAMU. However UAPB was successful over Prairie View and MS Valley held of Alcorn State. 

Grambling State is OPEN this week.

Alabama State vs. Mississippi Valley State @ Crampton Bowl Stadium in Montgomery, AL (1 PM): Mississippi Valley has had success against Alabama State in recent years. This year, Mississippi Valley comes into the game as the heavy favorite. Clouding the predictions are Alabama State’s last two games where they played tough against Divisional leader AAMU and beat Grambling State at their Homecoming. Logic suggests that the Grambling win was a fluke and that Mississippi Valley will pull out the win over the Hornets in a low scoring affair. 
Prediction: Alabama State 10; Mississippi Valley 14

Alabama A&M vs. Alcorn State @ Crews Stadium in Normal, AL (1:30 PM): Alcorn can stay alive for a SWG berth with a win over AAMU. A win by Alcorn would create havoc in the EAST standings. Alcorn always plays AAMU tough and this year promises to be no different. No team seems to be the superior in the SWAC this year but in this match-up, you must logically consider AAMU the favorite. They are playing at home and want to keep their SCG destiny in their hands. 
Prediction: Alabama A&M 28; Alcorn State 17

Jackson State vs. Prairie View @ Memorial Stadium in Jackson MS (3 PM, 9 PM taped delayed ESPNU broadcast): Jackson State was the hottest team in the SWAC during the first half of the season. Now, they are simply fighting for respect and a little revenge. Last year, Prairie View beat the Tigers for the first time in almost 35 years. This year, they serve as Homecoming bait for the Tigers. While, I am surprised that JSU lost three games in a row, I would not be surprised to see a big win over Prairie View. The JSU offense has come alive and unless the defense has another meltdown, they should be able to handle Prairie View’s offense with ease.
Prediction: Jackson State 35; Prairie View 14

Southern vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff @ Mumford Stadium in Baton Rouge, LA (3 PM): Arkansas Pine Bluff is currently the hottest team in the SWAC and the biggest surprise of the season. They are poised to go to Birmingham but Southern would be much obliged to stop them from realizing that dream. Pete has proven that he knows how to turn a season around. He has only had one losing season in his coaching career. I think he is going to pull this one out in a high scoring affair on the bluff.
Prediction: Southern 35; UAPB 31

Texas Southern vs. Texas State @ in San Marcos, TX (6 PM): Texas Southern will lose. 
Prediction: Texas Southern 3; Texas State 35
