Predictions by Tigerpride: THE Logical One

Last week THE Logical One was 1-3. My beloved Jackson State fell once again, this time to UAPB-the probable SWAC West representative in the SCG. Grambling fell to Texas Southern in what is probably the upset of the season. AAMU got the best of Alabama State while Mississippi Valley handled their business against Prairie View. Right now it appears that JSU and AAMU are in a dead heat to represent the EAST in Birmingham. UAPB would have to undergo a major meltdown to lose its top spot. 

AAMU vs. Jackson State @ Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson, MS (6:00 PM): This game is almost do-or-die for both JSU and AAMU. The winner of this game can claim the driver’s seat to Birmingham. JSU has the best defense in the SWAC. Alabama A&M has a lethargic offense. The JSU defense should win this game easily. The key is for the offense to step up. We don’t need a 600 yard game like the offense put up against UAPB. We just need enough to get us 24 points. The defense should be able to handle the rest. Another key factor is that this game will be in Jackson, where the Tigers are undefeated this season!!
Prediction: Jackson State 27; AAMU 10

Alcorn State vs. Mississippi Valley State @ Rice-Totten Stadium in Itta Bena, MS (2PM): Alcorn State is about to be exposed. Depsite 3 SWAC losses, Mississippi Valley is still a good football them. In fact, they are the 4th best team in the conference behind, JSU, UAPB, and Grambling. Alcorn will find this out very fast. I mentioned last week that Valley will not lose another game this season. 
Prediction: Alcorn 17; Mississippi Valley 28

Grambling State vs. Alabama State @ Robinson Stadium in Grambling, LA (3:00 PM): The BAMA schools are always a logical choice for homecoming bait? This is why…
Prediction: Grambling 58; Alabama State 14

Texas Southern vs. Southern @ Mumford Stadium in Baton Rouge, LA (6:30 PM):  I have been most impressed this year with Texas Southern’s defense. This is a hard game to call because although Southern has a better record, Texas Southern is probably one of the best 3 quarter teams in the SWAC. Interestingly, Southern fatigues in the 4th quarter as well. I am going to go with the team with the better defense-that being Texas Southern by a hair.
Prediction: Texas Southern 17; Southern 14

UAPB vs. Prairie View @ Blackshear Stadium in Prairie View, TX (1 PM). It’s homecoming at Prairie View and they welcome the hottest team in the SWAC. I do see this team getting cold before the season ends but not this weekend. They will let Prairie View know that they are not homecoming bait.
Prediction: Prairie View 17; UAPB 30
