Double overtime, two Hail Mary passes, a TD with no time left, and a defensive struggle - that was Week 9 in the SIAC. What's next?

Albany State Golden Rams (4-1, 5-3) vs Morehouse Maroon Tigers (1-5, 2-7), Homecoming, 2 p.m., BT Harvey Stadium, Atlanta, GA

Albany St. and Morehouse lost games last week. The Rams lost 17-10 in a defensive struggle with Tuskegee. The Golden Tigers led 10-0 at the half, but the Rams tied the score at 10 early in the 4th qtr. The Rams defense allowed just 210 yards of offense to the conference's top-rated offense but Tuskegee scored just enough to win. Morehouse lost on a TD by Clark Atlanta with one second left in the game, suffering its 4th consecutive loss. The Maroon Tigers trailed 19-0 in the 2nd qtr. when a 21-yd pass from Ruben Dupree to Quincy Avery brought the score to 19-7 at the half. After a Morehouse FG and a CAU TD, the 'House men scored 14 points to tie the score at 25. A 65-yd Hail Mary pass by CAU with one second left was the dagger in the heart. I'm not sure why Albany is the Homecoming guest but don't expect them to act like visitors. This won't be a happy homecoming for the Men from Morehouse.

Stillman Tigers (1-5, 3-5) vs Benedict Tigers (2-4, 3-5), 2 p.m., Charlie Johnson Stadium, Columbia, S.C.

The Bama Tigers prowl over to Columbia to visit the S.C. Cousins. Stillman should be feeling good after a 34-3 mauling of the Lincoln (MO) Blue Tigers. Benedict is licking its wounds after a 16-10 double OT loss to Ft. Valley. The SC Tigers kicked a FG with one second left to tie the score at 10. Neither team scored in the 1st OT, and unfortunately Benedict didn't score in the second and the Wildkitties did. This game is a toss up. If Benedict's defense can contain Stillman QB Charles McCollum, it should win this game. But look for McCollum to throw all day.

Ft. Valley St. Wildcats vs Lane Dragons, 6 p.m., Rothrock Stadium, Jackson, TN

Ft. Valley had to go to double OT but ended its 5-game losing streak with a 16-10 win over Benedict. The Wildkitties had 331 yards of offense in the win. RB Brian Knighton had 154 rushing yards. QB Nathaniel Samas had a productive day (1-19-133). The Dragons should be well rested after a bye week. Will be interesting to see how Lane's QB Ellis will fend off the Ft. Valley pressure. If the Wildcats keep pressure on the ball and can get the offense going, they can upset Lane.
Wildkitties over Lizards

Tuskegee Golden Tigers vs Clark Atlanta Panthers, 7 p.m., Panther Stadium, Atlanta, GA

The Golden Tigers won 17-10 in a defensive struggle vs Albany St. 'Skegee jumped out to a 10-0 lead and held it until Albany tied the score early in the 4th qtr. Kevin Huff hit Stanley Reid with a 23-yd TD pass with just over 7 minutes left. The defense held the Albany offense at bay the rest of the game. The Panthers jumped out to a 19-0 lead on Morehouse on a 52-yard run, a blocked punt, and a 48-yard fumble recovery for a TD. Clark allowed Morehouse to tie the game at 25 before scoring on a 65-yd Hail Mary pass from Corey Jones to Gerard Lattimore with one second left to get the 32-25 victory. Tuskegee controls its own destiny in the championship race. It must win this game and its game vs Lane on Nov. 11 (deemed a non-conference game for both teams - refer back to the lunatics in conference office interfering in the scheduling process) to secure the championship.
Golden Cubbies over ATL Black Kats

Savannah St. Tigers vs Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls, Homecoming, 1 p.m., American Legion Memorial Stadium, Charlotte, NC

The Marshkats didn't have a very happy homecoming - at least as far as the game is concerned. The visiting NC Rams from Winston-Salem butted them all over the field in a 38-6 loss. Smith got its 1st win in the Irwin Belk Complex with a 10-7 win over Fayetteville St. The win was the first for the Golden Bulls over Fayetteville since 1999. One would think that the Tigers should corral the Bulls, but don't bet on it.

Short Shot: Miles and Kentucky St. have byes this week, but had a wild ending to their game last week. The Ponies scored first on a 51yard fumble recovery by Leonard Banks. Miles clawed back with a 9-d run from Calvin Jones to tie the score and the score was 7-7 at the half. In the 3rd qtr, Miles scored on a 34-yd fumble recovery by Willie Byrd to take a 14-7 lead. The Ponies tied the score at 14 on a 4-yd run from Roni Robinson in the 4th qtr. Miles scored with 1:17 left in the game but missed the extra point. The Ponies drove down field and scored on a 31-yd TD pass with no time on the clock - the extra point was good. Once again, the lack of scoring my the Miles offense has cost the Bama Bears the game.
