October 26-28, 2006

What we are looking at: In a nutshell, NCCU is still flying high in the west and is 8-0. JCSU is looking to keeps its faint hopes for a CIAA title alive. Livingstone, Fay State, and St Aug. is playing for pride, and for spoiler roles in this drama of a conference. In the East, ECSU and VUU are the equivalent on NCCU and JCSU, one and two in the division, respectively. BSU is looking to have at least a respectable finish, and Shaw, Virginia State, and St. Paul’s…playing for pride, and a rare spoiler road, although I wouldn’t count on it. Is that everyone…okay, lets get those hot picks going.

Offense Puts fans in the seat, but defense wins championship- In out game of the week, Bowie State hosts Virginia Union. A red hot offense from the panthers will look to bust through the brick wall of the bulldogs. Two ways to describe the possible outcome of this game- Either its gonna be a corvette hitting a brick wall (ala Shaq’s reference of Kobe in that first Heat/Lakers Christmas game) or it will be like the episode of Chappelle’s Show of red balls (mocking red bulls energy drink) where it takes him TWO tries to bust through a cardboard wall after having a swig of the “cocaine in a can”. Either way, I think this game is close, but a revived BSU Bulldog team will fall in the fourth quarter. VUU by 7

Speaking of Bulls- J.C. Smith is having the Tigers of Savannah State swing by for Homecoming. Although JC squeaked by in a close game in Fayetteville, as I thought, this game wont be as close. SSU is improving, at least a little, but another embarrassment is coming. If J.C doesn’t win this game, ill be very disappointed, but it wont come easy. JC by 10

ECSU @ St. Pauls- I hope the Tigers like Donuts. This defense isn’t playing games with offenses. ECSU by 28, and as a Bonus, St. Paul’s shouldn’t score either.

St. Aug’s @ Fay St.- What’s going on Fayetteville? This has to be one of the biggest busts for such a hyped up team, and this game is so hard to pick. A Falcon or a Bronco? Sounds like trying to buy a Ford car, which isn’t exactly the most exciting thing on the market right now…closing my eyes and picking says the Broncos by 3

Shaw @ VSU- Another mediocre match to choose from. V. State seems to be picking up some steam, only losing to Va. Union by 3 last week. Shaw was shut out last week. The lighter competition still wont help Shaw grab another notch in the win column. There isn’t much more to say…V.State by 7

Finally- NCCU @ Livingstone- I chose to do this game last because it has the making of an ugly game. Livingstone is dead last in points score, and in offense. NCCU is first in pass offense. All the handicaps in the world wont help Livingstone in this game. Its bad enough were NCCU doesn’t have to show up and the will still score and win the game…NCCU by 42+ and the CIAA west division champs.
